  1. Put flour in a large bowl, then roll the beef cubes in the flour until fully coated.
  2. Heat oil in a pan or deep skillet. Once oil is hot, place flour-coated beef in pan. Turn beef frequently until it starts lightly browning. (flour will start looking "gooey". That's fine, so don't worry)
  3. Transfer lightly browned beef to a pot. Add potatoes, carrots, garlic, butter and broth. Stir.
  4. Add worchestershire sauce, gravy mix, basil, bay leaves, paprika, onion powder and salt. Stir again.
  5. Heat on high until boiling, then cover and reduce to simmer for 30 minutes.

  7. ~VARIATIONS~ . You can add different items, such as: mushrooms, peas, onion, corn . Potato flakes can be used to thicken further, if desired. . Butter can be omitted, but helps lend to the richness.
